Alex Elegudin is a nationally recognized transportation accessibility expert and disability rights attorney who has dedicated his career to advancing equitable transit solutions for people with disabilities. Following a spinal cord injury in 2003 that resulted in quadriplegia, Alex earned his law degree from Hofstra University and committed himself to pushing for greater accessibility in transportation and beyond.Alex has been one of the leading advocates working to expand access to innovative transportation models for microtransit and paratransit. His work has focused on ensuring these services meet the needs of riders with disabilities, pushing for equity, flexibility, and modernization.As Accessibility Program Manager at the NYC Taxi and Limousine Commission, Alex led the development of landmark accessibility regulations that made New York City’s for-hire vehicle industry a national model for wheelchair access. He later became the inaugural Accessibility Chief at MTA New York City Transit, where he led efforts to enhance access across subways, buses, and paratransit, driving progress through both infrastructure and policy. His impact has earned recognition from the U.S. Congress and New York City Council for his public service and disability advocacy.
