As the Deputy Executive Director for the San Bernardino County Transportation Authority (SBCTA),

Carrie Schindler is one of the key architects of visionary public transportation strategies serving the

region. Her energetic approach to offering innovative solutions to the transportation challenges of San

Bernardino County complements Executive Director Ray Wolfe’s vision well as they collaboratively lead

the agency into the next generation of transportation.

Carrie first put her stamp on the industry as Director of Transit and Rail at SBCTA, where she steered the

long-awaited expansion of Metrolink service ten miles to the east with completion of the Downtown San

Bernardino Passenger Rail and Redlands Passenger Rail Projects. She then took it one step further by

being a champion for the first-of-its-kind FRA approved zero-emission hydrogen-powered passenger rail

vehicle designed to run on existing infrastructure.

Her journey at SBCTA began as Chief of Fund Administration, where she was charged with harnessing

state and federal funding to propel the realization of ambitious projects. Leveraging years of experience

as Chief of Transportation Planning for the County of San Bernardino, as well as a Resident Engineer for

significant flood control endeavors, Carrie’s expertise radiates across a spectrum of domains.

Carrie holds a degree in Civil Engineering from San Diego State University and is a registered Professional

Engineer in California. Beyond her professional endeavors, she embraces the joys of life, embarking on

captivating road trips with her family and seizing moments to reconnect with her roots by visiting her

parents in Baja.
