Dan Mitchell is an Assistant General Manager and the Chief Engineer for LADOT, the City of Los Angeles Department of Transportation, where he leads the Office of Project Delivery & Operations. His responsibilities include the design and implementation of the department’s capital improvement and safety projects. Dan also oversees the day-to-day operation of the City streets, including major special events, nearly 5,000 traffic signals, and the ATSAC Traffic Management Center. He also serves as LADOT’s operations lead for the 2028 Olympic & Paralympic Games. Mr. Mitchell earned a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Loyola Marymount University and a master’s degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in transportation systems from the University of California at Irvine. He is a licensed Civil and Traffic Engineer in the State of California with over 29 years of experience in transportation and parking management.
