Enrique Huertas
Enrique Huertas, BEng (Hons) MSc CEng MICE, is CEO and Founding Partner of Colin Buchanan Consultores, an independent mobility and transport advisory firm with offices in Madrid, Tenerife and Santiago de Chile. A Chartered Engineer and Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers, he trained in London and began his career at Colin Buchanan and Partners before founding the firm in 2007.Within the transport planning and engineering field, his core expertise is pedestrian flow analysis, having led Legion's Business Development and Consultancy units between 2012 and 2016. He has directed studies on how people move through rail and metro stations, transport interchanges, stadiums and large event venues, using pedestrian microsimulation to test designs, size circulation spaces, evaluate level of service and plan safe evacuation. His work supports public authorities, transport operators and venue owners in critical decisions: where bottlenecks will form, how operations should respond to peak demand, and how to keep people safe when conditions change. He combines this with wider mobility planning, from sustainable mobility plans to transport demand modelling, always with the same principle: transport infrastructure should be designed around the people who use it.Alongside his executive role, Enrique teaches Transport, Logistics and Mobility Engineering in the Master's in Civil Engineering at Nebrija University in Madrid, where pedestrian modelling and traffic microsimulation are part of his curriculum.
