Matt Dickinson is a sustainability executive and a retired U.S. Navy Master Chief who catalyzed decarbonization within one of the world’s most complex industries — marine container terminals. As Sustainability Director at Fenix Marine Services (Port of Los Angeles), he developed and executed a strategy to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030. Within two years, he reduced annual greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 67,000 metric tons, transitioned all fossil-fuel burning terminal equipment to renewable fuels, and oversaw the deployment of the world’s first hydrogen-powered Top Handler in live terminal operations — positioning Fenix as the cleanest terminal in the global portfolio of its parent company CMA CGM (53 terminals worldwide). His work has been featured in the December 2024 issue of Reboot Magazine, where his efforts were cited as setting a new international standard in terminal sustainability. He continues to lead innovation at the intersection of energy resilience, zero-emissions technologies, and operational excellence — helping transport and logistics organizations align ecological performance with enterprise value.
