Tina Backstrom is the Senior Director of Transportation for Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, where she leads strategic mobility initiatives focused on equity, sustainability, and transportation infrastructure delivery citywide. With over 30 years of experience in transportation policy, project management, and government relations, Tina is a licensed engineer recognized for her expertise in sustainable transportation systems, transit operations, traffic engineering, real property, and construction management.

Tina has built a career centered on collaborative problem-solving, data-informed planning, and the advancement of inclusive, future-ready transportation networks. She has successfully guided multidisciplinary teams and interagency partnerships to deliver impactful mobility solutions that serve both people and place.A committed advocate for workforce development and representation in the transportation industry, Tina serves on the Board of Directors for WTS-Los Angeles and is an active member of COMTO, the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE), and the American Public Transportation Association (APTA).
