
Benjamin Limmer
Benjamin T. Limmer, AICP, is recognized in the public transportation industry as a visionary, transformative and collaborative leader. Limmer’s professional background in both the public and private sector includes a rare blend of strategic planning, operations, andmanagement responsibilities.In 2023, Limmer joined the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) as Chief, Public Transportation to lead its Public Transportation Bureau, which plays a critical role in taking CTDOT’s rail and transit services to new levels of quality that will complement the State’s ambitious transportation program. Most recently, he served RATP Dev USA as an executive managing the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) in Charlotte. Prior to that, Limmer held transit leadership positions in Tampa, Atlanta, Phoenix and Cleveland. Throughout his career, Limmer has gained broad support to develop and implement some of the largest investment programs in the country.Limmer has been widely recognized in local communities and as well as the transit industry. Limmer currently sits on the Board of Directors for the American Public Transportation Association. He was also the recipient of the Women’s Transportation Seminar, Honorable Ray LaHood “Man of the Year” Award. He is active within the industry and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Northern Iowa and a Master’s Degree in Urban Planning, Design, and Development from Cleveland State University.
