Elected as North Bay Village Commissioner for Treasure Island on November 5, 2024, Doris Acosta is committed to advocating for residents, enhancing transparency, and strengthening community engagement.Doris has been an active resident of Treasure Island for almost 20 years, serving on several local boards, including the Community Enhancement Board, Planning & Zoning Board, and Business Development Board. She has been a steady advocate for the community, receiving the North Bay Village Star Award for her contributions after Hurricane Irma. She also advocated for the creation of North Bay Village’s dog park, a space that has brought residents and their pets together.On a personal note, Doris brings a rich cultural perspective to her role with her Ecuadorian and Cuban-American roots, and she embodies strong family values and dedication to the well-being of others as demonstrated through her past service as a foster mother for the State of Florida.With over 20 years of experience working with families in residential real estate, Doris began her career with the local Realtor Association as the Ethics and Education Director. In 2005 she expanded her expertise in new condo development and moved into corporate real estate where she advanced to Operations Manager for a top luxury real estate firm. She later decided to further her career by becoming a real estate Broker, obtaining her Real Estate License in 2008, and she has continued to actively work as a local Realtor ever since.As Commissioner, Doris is focused on addressing resident needs, enhancing village services, and promoting a thriving, united community in North Bay Village. She is proud to call Treasure Island her home and considers her neighbors her extended family.
