Dr. Jens Wohltorf
Dr. Jens Wohltorf founded Blacklane in 2011 with Frank Steuer. The company set out to provide an efficient, high quality global chauffeur service that could be conveniently booked via smartphone or website. What began as a two-person operation in Germany has evolved into a global leader in premium mobility, working with tens of thousands of chauffeur partners, and maintaining hubs in major cities including Berlin, Dubai, London, Miami and Riyadh.
Wohltorf holds a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from the Technical University of Berlin in 2005. His academic journey includes research residencies at the University of California, Berkeley, and a diploma in Logistics and Telematics from MIT focused on urban traffic patterns.
Wohltorf joined the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) in 2006, where his frequent international travel highlighted the need for a reliable, premium mobility solution.
The idea for Blacklane emerged when living in Chicago in 2009. As a consultant traveling to cities such as Paris, New York, and Dusseldorf, he often found himself frustrated by the lack of comfortable and reliable transfers.
Today, Blacklane is the global chauffeur service and the trusted partner of the world’s leading brands, taking care of their people across six continents. The business has scaled rapidly particularly in Europe, the USA and most recently in the Middle East with exponential growth in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
