Dr. Nasiphi Moya is a seasoned public servant and political leader with over 15 years of experience in governance, public policy, and political administration. She began her political journey as a student at the University of Cape Town (UCT), where she earned a Bachelor of Social Science in Politics and Public Policy, followed by an Honours and Master’s degree in Public Affairs and Administration. In 2021, she was awarded a PhD in Political Science from the University of the Western Cape.Her professional career spans academia, research, and public service. Dr Moya held early research and administrative roles at UCT, the University of the Western Cape, and Heinrich Böll Stiftung, contributing to projects on democracy and governance in Africa. Dr. Moya joined the City of Tshwane in 2016, where she held senior positions including Group Head in the Office of the Chief Whip and Chief of Staff to the Executive Mayor. In 2021, she joined ActionSA as Chief Governance Director, a role that further deepened her experience in institutional reform and ethical leadership.She was sworn in as a PR Councillor for ActionSA in January 2023 and elected Deputy Executive Mayor in January 2024. On 9 October 2024, Dr. Moya was elected as Executive Mayor of Tshwane. She is committed to restoring good governance, driving service delivery, and building a city that works for all.
