Iona Isachsen is a Project Manager at the Smart Surfaces Coalition (SSC), where she manages the Smart Surfaces Peer Learning Network and the Cool Roadways Partnership – the leading forum for reflective pavement research and adoption insights. With SSC, Iona supports municipalities, airport managers, and other public infrastructure professionals in implementing cost-effective urban resilience and heat mitigation strategies. Iona also serves on the Cool Roof Rating Council’s Education Committee and Pavement Ratings Steering Committee. Before joining SSC, Iona conducted biotechnology research at the Arizona Center for Algae Technology and Innovation, and contributed to equitable energy transition policy analysis for a former Arizona Corporation Commissioner. She holds a B.S. in Conservation Biology & Ecology from Arizona State University, with minors in Energy and Sustainability.
