
Joanna M. Pinkerton
Joanna M. Pinkerton, PE is a nationally renowned executive, recognized and awarded for her transformational leadership in the mobility industry. Joanna serves as the Senior Vice President responsible for strategy & implementation of HNTB’s Digital Infrastructure Solutions – an integrated approach to utilizing innovative technology to support the nation’s physical transportation infrastructure. Most recently, Joanna served as President/CEO of Central Ohio Transit Authority, the regional mobility organization serving one of the fastest growing regions in the United States. White at COTA she led a strategy resulting in a multibillion-dollar program to advance rapid transit corridors, high-speed data networks, road, highway, and walkway investments; led the agency to launch one of the nation’s first public mobility-on-demand systems; tested and launched MOD for high-capacity transit; and implemented predictive AI for traffic management.
Recent roles also include Chief Operations Officer at Transportation Research Center Inc., the largest independent mobility development and proving grounds in the Americas – home to U.S. Department of Transportation’s NHTSA Vehicle Research Test Center. Joanna also held leadership roles with The Ohio State University Center for Automotive Research; the Honda-Ohio State Partnership; Ohio DOT; local government agencies and private, commercial construction companies.
Joanna continues her industry impact through service on boards in Ohio and Washington DC: Executive Committee, Intelligent Transportation Society of America (ITSA) Board of Directors; Vice-Chair, Transportation Research Center Inc. Board of Directors; Member, Artificial Intelligence Infrastructure Coalition Board; Member, Ohio Northern University College of Engineering Advisory Board.
