
Jose Tirado
Jose Tirado brings over 23 years of expertise in law enforcement operations, security, transportation, and emergency management, having served as the Emergency Management Coordinator for NJ TRANSIT and as a Sergeant with the NJ TRANSIT Police Department. As the largest state transit system in the country, NJ TRANSIT provides irreplaceable mobility to the residents of the nation’s most densely populated state and surrounding regions, transporting nearly one million customers a day via train, bus, light rail, and Access Link services.
Throughout his tenure at NJ TRANSIT, Jose engaged in law enforcement, emergency management, and counterterrorism, serving in diverse units like the Special Operations Division. He was a founding member of the agency's first Emergency Services Unit and also served as a Crisis Negotiator for NJTPD. Currently, Jose is responsible for NJ TRANSIT’s emergency management preparedness efforts and was designated the planning chief throughout NJ TRANSIT’s Covid-19 response and recovery efforts.
In times of disaster and major planned events, Jose has taken on leadership roles to coordinate response and recovery activities. He oversees NJ TRANSIT’s Emergency Operations Center as well as the NJ TRANSIT Emergency Management Training Center, the nation's first of its kind, located in NJ TRANSIT’s General Office Building in Maplewood, New Jersey.
