
Karla Martínez Owunwanne
Karla Martínez Owunwanne is the Senior Director of Government Relations, US West & Latin America at Lime, the world’s largest shared electric vehicle company. Lime is on a mission to build a future where transportation is shared, affordable and carbon-free. She is based in Los Angeles.
Over the past six years, Karla has been leading the development of new government and community partnerships, along with charting the strategic growth across some of Lime's largest markets. She has contributed to the advancement of dockless shared micromobility programs in cities like Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Portland, and Salt Lake City. Most recently, she is overseeing Lime's expansion throughout Latin America, in countries like Mexico and Chile.
Karla brings over a decade of experience in policy, campaigns, coalition building, and sustainability to her current role. Prior to joining Lime, she was the Director of Advocacy at Catalytik, a full-service advocacy and social innovation strategy firm based in Los Angeles. Before that, Karla worked for four years in nonprofit development, focusing on major gifts at the Harvard College Fund.
Karla earned a bachelor's degree in Government from Harvard University with a minor in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. Karla's background as a Latina, first-gen daughter of Mexican and Salvadoran immigrants, and native Angeleno directly informs her work and passion for building more connected cities.
