Manuel António Alculete Lopes De Araújo, born in the City of Quelimane – Mozambique, on October 11, 1970, holds a PhD in International Development from East Anglia University, United Kingdom. he holds two Master's Degrees, one in Policy Studies (MPS), from the Southern African Regional Institute for Policy Studies (SARIPS) / University of Zimbabwe, and in Development Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) at the University of London. He was the founder of the Youth Association for the Development of Volunteering in Mozambique (AJUDE), Association of International Relations Students in Mozambique (AERIM), Foundation for the Development of Zambézia (FDZ), of the National Youth Council (CNJ), amongst others. He has a long experience as an academic, in addition he teaches inside and outside the country, he has taught at the Polytechnic University, the Higher Institute of Science and Technology and the Higher Institute of International Relations. He is currently a professor at the Faculty of Political Science and Governance of International Relations at the Catholic University of Mozambique (UCM). He worked for Amnesty International in London as a Campaign Officer for the Portuguese and Spanish-speaking countries, and as a Coordinator of the Policing and Human Rights Project for the Southern African Development Community (SADC). In 2019, he was elected Vice-President of the National Association of Municipalities of Mozambique (ANAMM). He was a Member of the Assembly of the Republic of Mozambique, for the Renamo Party Bench, in the 2004-2009 Term, where he also served as Vice-President of the Committee on International Relations. He is a member of the Executive Committee of the Global Parliament of Mayors (GPM) and the Steering Committee of the Transport Decarbonization Alliance (TDA). The Academic, from December 2011 to the present date, is President of the Municipal Council of the City of Quelimane, the economic, political and administrative capital of the Province of Zambézia - the 4th most populated in Mozambique and the biggest by size in the Province of Zambézia.
