Pierfrancesco Maran

Born in Milan in 1980, he graduated in Political Science after studying the Orange Revolution in Ukraine. He entered public life as a district councillor before becoming a municipal councillor in Milan in 2006, later serving as the city's youngest Mobility and Environment councillor under Mayor Pisapia. Reappointed by Mayor Sala in 2016 and 2021, he oversaw Urban Planning, Housing and Neighbourhood policy. Between 2013 and 2016, he was the National Association of Italian Municipalities' (ANCI) national delegate for mobility and local public services. He authored "Visible Cities: Where the Nation's Change Begins" (2022), which was later adapted into a theatre production. In 2024, after 13 years in Milan's city government, he ran for the European Parliament and was elected with more than 45,000 votes. As a Member of the European Parliament the Socialists & Democrats he serves on the Internal Market and Employment committees.
