
Marcus Rönngren Liu
Marcus Rönngren Liu is a sustainability and innovation strategist bridging Sweden and the United States across climate technology, energy systems, and sustainable transportation. Based in Silicon Valley, he serves as a Senior Advisor to Sweden’s Green Transition Initiative (GTI), driving public-private partnerships that accelerate the green transition and help Swedish companies expand in North America.
With more than a decade of cross-border experience, Marcus has led programs that translate policy into pilots and real-world deployment. He has played a central role in operationalizing the Sweden–California Letter of Cooperation on sustainability, convening executive roundtables and advancing collaboration with U.S. cities, agencies, and universities. His portfolio spans electrified mobility, smart and resilient energy infrastructure, low-carbon buildings, and commercialization pathways for emerging climate solutions.
Previously, Marcus led national scale-up programs as Head of Startup Sweden and held senior roles with Vinnova, Almi Group, and Nordic Innovation House. He has convened ministers, mayors, Fortune 500 executives, and researchers to accelerate joint innovation and market adoption.
A recipient of the Wallenberg/Vinnova scholarship, Marcus holds a Master’s in Commercial Law from Linköping University and has completed executive programs in Innovation Management and AI Leadership at Stanford University. He also advises climate-tech ventures on U.S. expansion strategy and partnerships.
